About Dr. Seavey

Psychologist in Raleigh, NC

Amanda Seavey, PhD, DBSM (she/her/hers) is a licensed psychologist and founder of Clarity Psychological Wellness, offering psychotherapy and psychological assessment. She has extensive training and experience in providing treatment for depression, anxiety, insomnia, relationship difficulties, chronic illness and relational or childhood trauma. Dr. Seavey has a particular area of interest in treating the adult children of parents with personality disorders.

Dr. Seavey Specializes in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Insight-Oriented Therapy

Dr. Seavey primarily uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and insight-oriented therapies (e.g., psychodynamic therapy) to help you identify the complex patterns in your life that keep you stuck. She often works with those who are struggling with self-worth, self-compassion, perfectionism, and attachment based trauma. Dr. Seavey will compassionately and collaboratively help you increase your overall resiliency, self-awareness and emotional courage.

“Our work together is to understand and confront the patterns that keep you feeling stuck. The human experience (and mind) is incredibly complex. Together, we will work to build clarity and insight into what makes you who you are. Therapy is more than a set of principles and techniques. It is an authentic and meaningful relationship through which we can grow and create a deeper understanding of the self. We will focus on not only symptom reduction, but also on identifying the root cause(s) of the dilemmas in your life in order to enable lasting healing.”

Additional Specialties Include Treatment for Sleep Disorders and Therapy for Complex Trauma

Dr. Seavey is board-certified in Behavioral Sleep Medicine (DBSM).
