About Dr. Brintz
Carrie Brintz, PhD, is a clinical psychologist offering psychotherapy and psychological assessment to adults and groups. She enjoys working with adults to address a range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, loss, trauma, the impact of medical illness and pain, sleep difficulty, stress management, and improving healthy lifestyle behaviors. Dr. Brintz is trained in providing cognitive behavioral therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She also has training in teaching mindfulness and incorporates mindfulness-based approaches in her work. She provides a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment in which to achieve your goals for therapy. She will work collaboratively with you as you learn new skills to deal effectively with the painful thoughts, feelings, and stressors that that can get in the way of making meaningful behavior change. Her goal is to help you build greater awareness of what gets you stuck and to respond flexibly to life’s struggles, so that you can focus your energy and strengths on moving towards what matters most to you in life.
Dr. Brintz specializes in working with adults with chronic pain and other chronic health conditions and conducts research on the use of mindfulness practices to improve health and wellbeing. She has worked in specialty pain clinics using mind-body approaches to help individuals cope with and improve their lives with chronic pain. She believes that even in the face of pain and life’s challenges, it is possible to create a rich and meaningful life. Her work with you in this area can include mindfulness and relaxation training, behavioral coping skills, and learning to work effectively with difficult thoughts and feelings related to pain and health conditions.
